I agree with cathyknits2, when you are working even though it is from home you need a designated work space with no TV, books, or social gathering with family, relatives, or friends. You definitely need to get yourself dressed, hair comb and etc. because the way people are dressed nice projects a different frame of mind than being in a pair of old pjs.

There is only one excuse for being in pjs and that is if you are working a irregular night shift where you are required to have shifts an half-hour, hour or or two apart around or after midnight then you might have a nice pair of pjs designated for work purposes which would make you feel like you are dressed if you kept the pjs strictly for work. Then you might be able to catch a cat nap between shifts and be more comfortable than being fully dressed

I agree. All good points. I'd like to add a 4th point to cathyknits2 list: exercise. Don't forget to take care of your physical health.

Three points from my perspective of working at home:
1. Find a place to work, convert a small bedroom.....any place but designate it MY office. At first I would suggest not 'fancying' it up with a tv and other distractions. Get used to working in your office....treat it as such. It is not a gathering place for friends and family unless they are very short visits. You can see that I get distracted easily.....lol.
2. Get up in the morning and put on clothes...could be a sweatsuit but get out of your pjs. Remember you are going to work. This gives me a better work mindset.
3. Let your friends know that just because you are at home, you will not be accepting social phone calls or visits. Let them know when you are not working....invite them over at those times.

These work for me - they may not work for you. I have a laptop and could easily sit in my comfy chair with my knitting nearby and work but I would not be as productive. I try to let myself (and others) know, when I am working I am doing just that. And when my workday is over, I am free to visit, shop, etc.

Maybe these few guidelines will work for someone else.....they sure help keep me on track.

During the last month or so, I've experienced every technological disaster imaginable in my office. This gave me the opportunity to work from the comfort of my home. I noticed I was more productive preparing for client meetings, learning about new financial products, and calling clients from home, rather than dealing with the stress of being in the office where things weren't working out and limiting my production. I have to admit that it is great to work from home because I'm not a big fan of being in the office in the first place. As long as I can focus on the tasks at hand without distractions it doesn't matter where I work. As long as a person can adjust to the setting and still consider themselves to be at work or working even if they're at home, I think the transition can be a smooth productive one.

The world of technology is wonderful and it keeps improving especially for business owners and their project managers. Being able to have a laptop (some are also now using the smaller notebook computer) and to connect to the internet from their mobile is a lifesaver to a lot of business owners especially developers who have developments in several different areas as well as different states. They are able to keep up with their daily business in their main office, process some of their paper work rather than having it to wait till they get back to the main office as well as maintaining the individual projects. This makes them much more productive.
